I Wonder

I wonder what those berry are – I think I’ll give a taste

To find out what delights do lie within – Mother Nature does not waste!

I wonder what would happen if – I ate those one by one?

Would they explode right in my mouth, like “Pop Rocks”?  Oh such fun!

“Berries white – away in fright” I heard when I was young

“Berries red – away in dread”, I just made up that one!

I wonder why no birds, nor beast do feast upon this treat?

What does lay deep inside?  Well, that one has me beat!

About inmycorner

This blog began as an opportunity to tell my Dad's stories. I sat with him and the computer and together we told stories. It was a wonderful way to get to know Dad. He was 9. He and Mom had a wonderful life together and since she passed away a year and a half before him - Dad was ready to join her. I no longer tell his stories but have found stories of my own. The impetus to resume this blog was the discovery that I had stage 4 ovarian cancer. Since blogging had been so therapeutic for my dad and I to get through our grief, I felt maybe this would be a good outlet to process my situation. I also hoped it may serve as an outreach to anyone else who is facing this very ominous journey. So far, so good.

Red berries are edible here, at least the gooseberries, marshberries and partridgeberries are…so, if you ever make it to Newfoundland, look for the red berries, though I warn you, they are tart 🙂

Ha ha ha!!!! Good to know. I remember eating “choke – cherries” when I was a kid. I think my Dad made wine from them. How wonderful to know someone from Newfoundland – beautiful place!

🙂 yes, choke cherries, we have these, too, and dog berries, which are red and good for wine 🙂 It is, a beautiful place!
