New Day – New Beginnings

This morning –

I’m getting ready

For whatever happens

I feel stronger

I lift up my eyes to the light, to the horizon, to the sky

The new day is breaking

Today

I feel more ready

To battle the demons in my head

I feel more powerful, more capable, more content

I tune-in to hear the birds, the wind, the rustling of leaves

It is a new day

I am ready

To make new memories

I feel grateful, hopeful, more complete

I smell the crisp air that carries the frost, the musty smell of the earth, and the promise of winter

It is a new day

I’m ready

To live – to look UP – to look FORWARD

I am alive

I feel the hands of God which embrace me, envelop me, comfort me

I thank God for – this – new day

Today, life begins anew

About inmycorner

This blog began as an opportunity to tell my Dad's stories. I sat with him and the computer and together we told stories. It was a wonderful way to get to know Dad. He was 9. He and Mom had a wonderful life together and since she passed away a year and a half before him - Dad was ready to join her. I no longer tell his stories but have found stories of my own. The impetus to resume this blog was the discovery that I had stage 4 ovarian cancer. Since blogging had been so therapeutic for my dad and I to get through our grief, I felt maybe this would be a good outlet to process my situation. I also hoped it may serve as an outreach to anyone else who is facing this very ominous journey. So far, so good.

I think we should all print this, put it on the fridge, and read it while we have our morning coffee. What a way to set the mood for the day! Thanks for sharing your beautiful writing with us!

Well – I had to do something to make up for yesterday’s rather “bleak” outlook, Diane! Thank-you so much – maybe my poem from today and your photos!!!!

I’m smiling as I read your reply. Isn’t this the way we fed off each other during the time you spent in my classes? For sure your writing and my photos belong together. Let’s mull this over :-)!

Oh – indeed it was! I know now that we are both “brainstormers”! Have you heard of smart skills? I love it!!!

  2. This is a beautiful post – and it feels like a true prayer of gratitude to God for the wonderful mysteries of the universe and unending generosity of life. Thank you for inspiring.

Stacey, this is heart warming. Yesterday’s post was far from bleak, it was healing and humbling but not bleak. x

Stacey, I hope someone is creating a book of all of your poems. You are a woman of many talents! My thoughts and prayers are with you, Kevin and the kids. xo
