There is something magical about the morning.
Everything is fresh, clean, full of promise.
Today is no exception.
The temperature dropped overnight to provide a crisp, cool morning air. The bluish clouds provide a beautiful backdrop for the trees who leaves are gentling swelling in their tightly tucked cocoons.
A bunny hops closer to the bird seed cast aside by yesterday’s swarm of starlings.
Robins flight in the evergreen tree in an effort to secure the perfect branch upon which to begin building their nest.
Kevin brews the coffee for us to share. We sit quietly and try to make sense of the day. We are filled with hope. There are few words as we exchange looks. He smiles at me. The dog lays quietly in the middle of the room. It is quiet.
But the air is bustling with promise. It is alive. I am alive. I step outside to breathe it in deeply. It wakes up the very corners of my lungs and clears my mind. Today is a gift. Today is a promise. It is the start of my new life – my post chemo life.
