Every cloud does have a silver lining – sleepless nights can turn to gold
When my daughter comes home late
I’m awake for her hand to hold
The front door closes gently behind her – the lock clicks into place
I hear her footsteps moving closer
At my door she pops in her beautiful face
“Mom, are you awake?” she asks me in a whisper soft and low
“Of course I am, my dear” I reply
Thankful the answer wasn’t no
“How was your night,” I ask her, so curious to know
For though her tales of sports and friends
Into her world I may quickly go
That night’s adventures come to life – her stories she does share
I marvel in the joy she brings
As she tosses her golden hair
It’s not so much the words we say – that make the time so sweet
But together there in the dark
Our special place to meet
My sleepless nights have turned to be – much to my delight
A mother-daughter bonding time
Enjoyed only past mid-night!
AWW! So sweet. My bonding with my mum is usually during the day!
THank-you! And lucky mum that you are home during the day!
You’re welcome.
Hey i hope you don’t mind but i’d like to invite you to my blog at http://www.insanitybeautiful.wordpress.com
Good to allow special time!
Good to “discover” special time – grin. Good thing I can sleep during the day.
So happy that you have this time in which to bond.
Me too! Your turn will come, Gwen.
And when we need it most an angel walks in our door. 🙂
You brought a tear to my eye!
😀 I hope it was a joyful one. 😀
Ah…..how special.
You have been a busy beaver with all that reading you have been doing! To update: feeling great so far with a little “anti-inflammatory” in me – tomorrow is the defining day! Thanks for checking in with me – Gallivanta!
I have had some hiccups in life so am behind with blog reading. But you have been in my thoughts.
You are very sweet – hope all is well “down under”!
Well they could be better and they could be worse. I am having some time out with my uncle and my aunt. Which means I don’t have access to my own computer so I will be even more behind with my blogging. However, that’s another problem that is minor. 🙂
How special times with one’s children make all the pain of lives lonely moment disappear —very special Stacey–thank you for sharing
It is very special, Dawna. I remember Mom staying up for me — such comfort she was!
