The S-C-R-A-B-B-L-E of Life’s Moments

Time p-a-s-s-e-s (Double word score)

Time stands s-t-i-l-l

R-u-s-h (no bonus)

R-e-s-t (Triple letter score)

S-l-e-e-p.  W-a-k-e

Hello and good-bye

Givers and takers

Joy and pain

Health and sickness  (Did you use all your letters?)

Peace and strife

So much – so little

Change and static

Too much quiet and too much noise

The moments of our lives fit together like word – tiles in Scrabble.  Some words fit together and some don’t.  If you are lucky, you can score big and if the letters you draw are not good – tough luck.  We build on words and make connections.  We take our turn and wait again.

The final score can only be when the tiles run out and there are no more words to spell.  When it’s over, the other players “p-a-y” their tiles to you.  There is no going back.  There is no c-h-e-a-t-i-n-g.  It is the luck of the draw that gives some good fortune and others with little to build on.

Happy and sad (Two more tiles to draw)

F-a-m-i-l-y and f-r-i-e-n-d-s

B-u-i-l-d them while you can.  Who won?    In life, there is no score.  In the end, it’s not whether you win or lose – but it is all in your g-e-n-e-s and how you played the game.

About inmycorner

This blog began as an opportunity to tell my Dad's stories. I sat with him and the computer and together we told stories. It was a wonderful way to get to know Dad. He was 9. He and Mom had a wonderful life together and since she passed away a year and a half before him - Dad was ready to join her. I no longer tell his stories but have found stories of my own. The impetus to resume this blog was the discovery that I had stage 4 ovarian cancer. Since blogging had been so therapeutic for my dad and I to get through our grief, I felt maybe this would be a good outlet to process my situation. I also hoped it may serve as an outreach to anyone else who is facing this very ominous journey. So far, so good.
